We’ve all seen and contributed to the increase in demand for organically produced foods and better sustainability in the British agricultural industry. A surge in demand during the lockdown prompted a 12.6% increase in sales of organic produce, the highest amount of growth in this category for 15 years.
The Department for Agricultural and Rural Affairs states that: ‘Organic food is the product of a farming system which avoids the use of man-made fertilisers, pesticides; growth regulators and livestock feed additives. Irradiation and the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) or products produced from or by GMOs are generally prohibited by organic legislation.
Organic agriculture is a systems approach to production that is working towards environmentally, socially and economically sustainable production. Instead, the agricultural systems rely on crop rotation, animal and plant manures, some hand weeding and biological pest control’.
More of us are more health and diet conscious, as evidenced by the rising demand of not just organic food, but also fruit and vegetables as many of us incorporate a higher percentage of plant-based foods into our diets. This is often the main reason we’re starting to make the switch to purchasing and growing our own organic produce.
The other most cited reasons for making the change to organic foods are:
03 Fruit + Vegetables biostimulant is an organic concentrated formula made with 100% naturally occurring compounds. This formula has been specially developed by the same scientists who supply sustainable food producers across the world with our sister company Maxstim, enabling growers to make more sustainable agricultural choices. Our Maxstim formula has full organic certification with Ecocert, and The Magic Molecules Co. formula has been checked and official certificates are pending. We’re shouting about it now because we want to bring home growers the same technology and innovation so you can see and taste the difference in your own garden.
